This dangerously drinkable Small Batch Whisky exemplifies innovative craftsmanship, spotlighting our light and fruity new-make spirit. This allows the intricate flavors of our unique mash bill to shine brilliantly, all while remaining true to our signature Australian whisky style. Our mash has been meticulously crafted from a carefully selected blend of malts, including Munich, Ale, Crystal, Voodoo, and Chocolate malt, delivering a complex and captivating character.
Barrel
Much like many of the whiskies crafted at our bonding facility, this exceptional spirit began its journey in a customized 200-litre virgin American oak barrel, sourced directly from Kentucky, USA, where it matured for four years. After this initial aging, the whisky is carefully transferred to an ex-Shiraz French oak barrel that we meticulously re-shave, toast, and char in-house before seasoning it anew.
To elevate the flavor profile, we peel the ripest blood oranges and introduce them into the re-coopered French oak barrel, along with fortified Port. The cask then rests for nine months, during which we pressurize it with air to infuse as much of the vibrant orange essence into the staves as possible.
Following this, the whisky spends an additional 18 months soaking up the bold citrus character, resulting in a dram rich with layered flavors that will captivate and leave you craving more.
Taste
The blood orange burst on the nose is unmistakable from the very first moment. The initial sip delivers a vibrant fusion of sweet orange tartness and zesty orange marmalade, perfectly balanced by deep, rich undertones of burnt caramel, bold espresso, and intense dark chocolate bitterness.
