Our second release Small Batch Series bottling is a beauty. Made with a mash bill consisting of a carefully selected blend of four malts that bring depth and character to the spirit.
A variety of malt types such as Pale Malt for its base sweetness, Munich Malt for added richness and depth, Roasted Malt for a touch of bitterness and complexity, and Manuka Smoked NZ Malt, which imparts a unique smoky character derived from the renowned New Zealand Manuka tree. This combination creates a robust foundation that enhances the overall flavour profile of the final product.
Barrels
The new make spirit distilled from this grain combination has gone on a journey through three different barrel types:
Serbian Oak barrels are particularly noteworthy; their tighter grain structure allows for a gentler extraction of tannins, resulting in a smoother mouthfeel. This barrel type adds subtle complexity, unveiling layers of flavour that achieve an excellent balance without overpowering the spirit.
Ex- Shiraz barrels play a significant role in imparting earthy red fruit flavours alongside hints of nuts and spices. These barrels give a full body to the spirit, enhancing its overall complexity and inviting a delightful aromatic experience.
The Ex-Bourbon barrels are essential for introducing a layer of delicate sweetness to the profile. The remnants of previous corn sugars in these barrels translate into notes of vanilla, honey, and caramel, adding a comforting smoothness that rounds out the palate beautifully.
Taste
On the palate, the spirit is predominantly wood-driven, showcasing the influence of the barrels used during aging. A hint of smoke from the Manuka Smoked NZ Malt adds an intriguing depth. The finish is spicy, with pepper and nutmeg making their presence known.
